Obituary for Larry Eugene Hylton

LARRY E. HYLTON
Larry Eugene Hylton, 72, of DeSoto, KS passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at home surrounded by his loved ones. The family will receive friends and fellowship on Monday, August 19th from 10 to 11 am with the Memorial Funeral services immediately following at Risen Savior Lutheran Church 14700 Leavenworth Rd. Basehor, KS 66007. Larry was born on January 11, 1947 in Newton County, Arkansas. As a child, his family relocated to the Bonner Springs, Kansas area where he graduated from Bonner Springs High School and met the love of his life, Linda Porth. Larry and Linda married in 1965 and had their daughter, Krista in 1971. His family was his biggest accomplishment and loved being a father and grandfather. Larry spent his career as a successful entrepreneur. He was the founder of Hylton Trucking, Jayhawk Truck Transporters, owned numerous service stations, as well as the proud owner of several thoroughbred race horses. He loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting, golf and baseball. Larry was a great cook, but not a fan of cleaning up - he was a huge fan of the Chiefs, Royals and KU Jayhawks. He was proceeded in death by his parents Claude "Les" and Walsie Hylton, and sister Judy (Hylton) Henry. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Linda (Porth) Hylton of the home and daughter Krista Hylton Smith and her husband Brian of Olathe, Kansas. Three brothers; Edward of Bates City, MO, Johnny (Sharon) of Bonner Springs, KS and Carl (Donna) of St. Louis, MO and four sisters; Mary Jo (Martin) Hembrock of North Little Rock, AR, Wanda Fisher of St. Louis, MO, Anna (Ernie) Sheppard of Warsaw, MO and Reba Grass of Springfield, MO. Two grandchildren, Garrett and Hadley as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins of whom looked to Larry as a father figure and big brother. The family suggests memorial contributions to Risen Savior Lutheran Church.
