Obituary for Kenton Todd Smith

Kenton Todd Smith, 58 of Coto De Caza, California passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his home.
Kent was born July 24, 1963 in Kansas City, MO to Carlene G. (Fries) Smith and Gregory L. Smith. He grew up and attended schools in Overland Park, KS. He was a graduate of Kansas State University earning his degree in Finance. Kent also went on to higher education attending University of Utah for Political Science.
Kent met San Juanita “Janie” Ochoa in 1986, they dated and later married 1997. Together they celebrated over 25 years of marriage on July 5, 2022.
Kent enjoyed the simple things in life and using his mind. He loved Sudoku and especially the famed NY Times Crossword. The way he relaxed was unusual, he loved reading and solving math equations. Kent was an avid weightlifter, passionate about his fitness. Kent’s biggest love was for his family and a nice cup of coffee.
Kent worked the bulk of his career at PIMCO where he served as an Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager. He was proud of his work and enjoyed his colleagues.
Kent is survived by his wife Janie Ochoa Smith; one daughter, Shelby Diane Smith; one son, Carver Owen Smith; his parents, Gregg and Carlene Smith; one brother, Darin Scott Smith and his wife, DeeAnn Smith; one sister Tamara Lynne (Smith) Daniels and her husband Kevin Daniels; he was also an uncle to multiple nieces and nephews as well as great- and great-great nephews and nieces.
He will be greatly missed by so many, as his passing was so sudden.

Visitation will be 10am-11am Thursday, July 21st at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home (214 Oak Street, Bonner Springs, KS 66012)

Funeral Service will begin at 11am also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery, Edwardsville, Kansas.
