Kathleen McDowell Obituary

Kathleen Wilma McDowell went home to be with her Lord on November 22, 2020.
Kathleen was born May 22, 1932 at Brumley, Missouri to Dawn and Sadie (Gumm) Swenehart. She spent much of her childhood and adolescent years in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Charles (Charlie) Wayne McDowell on March 19, 1949. Shortly after their marriage they settled in Bonner Springs and were there most of their married life. She retired from Faultless Starch, Inc. in 1994 after 30 years with the company. Charlie passed away in 1996.
Kathleen came to know the Lord in 1960 and was baptized at Rehm’s Park Baptist Church the same time as her son, David. She later got to see Charlie baptized and then her daughter, Linda Kay. Being active in her church was an integral part of her life. Her Bible and various devotional books were always on her kitchen table.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ray and Gene Swenehart and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen is survived by her son David (Linda) McDowell of Mustang, OK, and daughter Linda (Paul) Mayse of Clinton, MO. She is also survived by grandchildren Christine (Jase) Bradford of Tuttle Ok, Kyle (Anna) McDowell of Hampton, UK, Jeremy Mayse of Windsor, MO, and Alisha (Jesse) Perez of Kansas City, MO. There are eight surviving greatgrandchildren, Jackson and Parker McDowell, Dominic and Isaiah Perez, Tritten, Bria, Chasen, and Westen Bradford. She is also survived by her sister Jaunita Gieber and a niece Tammy Swenehart both of Kansas City, MO.
