Joyce Lynn Kovac Oswald, 71, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at her home. Her Visitation will be from 9 to 10 AM, and Funeral Mass Services will be at 10 AM, Saturday, March 16th, both at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, KS. Burial to follow in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery near Basehor, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the International Myeloma foundation in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Joyce was born on November 19, 1952 in Kansas City, KS, where she attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School and then graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1970. She later received her associates degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College. Joyce married Steven Anthony Oswald on May 15, 1971 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and “Baka” to her family. She loved her Croatian heritage, her faith and her dog, Barron. She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Evelyn Schons Kovac and Philip John Kovac and one brother, Philip Joseph Kovac in 2023. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Steven Anthony Oswald of the home and three children Brett Oswald and his wife Jamie; Erin Kirkland and her husband Jimmie and Kristen Farnet and her husband Michael; as well as five grandchildren Adalyn, Declan, Joshua, Alyssa, and Gianna.
