Obituary for Joseph William Rita II
Joseph William Rita, II, age 57, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on September 30, 2021 in Topeka, Kansas.
Joseph was born on June, 21st, 1964 in Oakland, California. He married Tammy (Nelson) Rita on May 20, 1999 and they were married for 22 years. He graduated from Schagle High School in the Class of 1982. Joe was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 1980’s. After his discharge from the Army he resided in Kansas City, Kansas where he worked for Traftec & Safety Flare. Later he and his wife were owner/operators of Cleaning Unlimited in Kansas City, Kansas, he retired in 2001. Joe and his wife moved to Colorado Springs, CO. in 2009 and then returned to Leavenworth, KS. in 2015 to be closer to family.
Joe was preceded in death by his brother Timothy Rita and mother Elenor Akers McComb.
Survivors include his wife Tammy Rita of the home, son Bruce Childress, son Christopher Hilt, Daughter Ashley Hilt, stepfather Bruce McComb, father Joseph W. Rita, Sr., sister Sonya Wilder (Richard), stepsister Lisa Jordan, half-brother Ted McComb, step-brother Larry Warrick, half-brother Frank Rita, half-brother Scott Rita (Cheryl), half-brother Steven Rita, granddaughters Hayley and Kinslie Hilt, nieces Becky Lesher and Samantha McComb.
Graveside Committal Service will be 2:30pm, Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 at the Leavenworth National V.A. Cemetery. The family will then have a Celebration of his life that evening 5 to 9pm at the Harrington Family Event Center.
