Joseph Edward Rider, 67, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Providence Medical Center surrounded by family. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, Aug. 16th and the Memorial Service will be 11am, Saturday Aug. 17th, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery.
Joe was born on November 11, 1951 and was the second oldest of 5 brothers. Joe grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1969. He was a lifelong resident of the area, moving to Bonner Springs, Kansas shortly after marrying his wife, Glenda, on September 29, 1981. Joe worked at Consolidated Container Company in Lenexa for 42 years. During his life, Joseph has enjoyed taking care of his yard, reading and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Fred Rider; his wife, Glenda Rider and 3 brothers, Mike Rider, Pat Rider and Tracy Mecum. He is survived by his children JoAnn Hewston and her husband Michael, Kim Sward, Erica Albarran and her husband Efrain, Shea Stoner and her significant other Kermitt Jacks, Jennifer Ford and her husband Joey and Bradley Rider; his fourteen grandchildren Shelby, Madeline, Claudia, Darby, Brady, Olivia, Eleana, Elisabeth, Kermitt, Emerson, Jaelynn, Juneau, Viivi and Jamison; his brother Tim Mecum as well as extended family and friends.
