John Michael Sigears Sr., was born May 23, 1945 to John Louis Sigears and Mary Ann Yadrich-Sigears. He was the first born of 5 children. John attended school at St. Peters Catholic School and Bishop Ward High School. He met and married Lynda Suzan Messer in 1965. John and Lynda had three sons, John Jr, and a set of twins Robert and Michael. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Austin Sigears, Autum Sigears, Kyleigh Sigears, Travis Hensley and Carrie Hensley. He worked in lithography as a feeder, then a pressman for almost 20 years at Spangler Printers in Kansas City, Missouri; then as a line packaging manager at Swift Meat Packing in Kansas City, Kansas for 7 years; then as an operations engineer at the Wyandotte County Courthouse in the jail for 13 yrs., He retired in March of 2010. Over the years, John had gained considerable knowledge in mechanics and electrical work.
John was preceded in death by His Father, John Louis Sigears; his brother Dennis Michael Sigears; and his mother, Mary Ann Yadrich-Sigears.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Suzan Messer-Sigears, and sons John M. Sigears, Jr., Robert W. Sigears (Carol) and Michael J. Sigears ( Jennifer). He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Sigears-Hunt, Carol Sigears-Goff (Russ) and Mary Paula Sigears- Brown.
John had a great love of God’s creation and was amazed by the mystery and beauty of it. He loved taking long drives in the country and taking pictures of wildlife and migrating birds. He particularly enjoyed watching Bald Eagles, Snow Geese and Pelicans. He attended many Storm Watcher Seminars and loved to track and watch storms. He was also fascinated with the night sky and the planetary orbits and could identify the planets and the constellations when he saw them. John was a member of Open Door Baptist Church where he served as a Sheep Dog (Security). He enjoyed going to church and fellowshipping with his wonderful church family. He is loved by many and will be missed by his family as well as his church family at Open Door.
John Michael Sigears, Sr. age 73, of Bonner Springs, KS., passed away Monday, August 13, 2018. Visitation will be 9 to 10:30am, Funeral will begin at 10:30am, both Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Open Door Baptist Church, burial following in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kansas City, KS., Memorial Contributions can be made to the Open Door Baptist Church.
