Obituary for John Edward Jaster

John Edward “Buddy” Jaster, age 74, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Sunday, March 31st, 2024 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. His family will be hosting a Memorial Gathering from 6-8 pm on Thursday, April 11th at the Harrington Family Event Center, 218 Oak St. Bonner Springs, KS. 66012.

John was born on October 11th, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas, and was one of five children born to John & Lorena Jaster. He and his siblings grew up in the Armourdale area and attended Wyandotte High School. John had to quit school to help support his mother and siblings. He took a job at Construction Steel for a few years before enlisting in the US Army, serving from 1969 to 1971. After returning from the service he soon began working at General Motors where he worked for 23 years, retiring in 2001. John loved going to Car Shows with his family in the several Classic Cars and Hot Rods he had over the years. He also enjoyed traveling and supporting his sons as they raced SeaDoo’s all over the country. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his “Car Buddies”.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, one brother Ernie Jaster, one sister Janice Jaster, and one of his sons Chad Jaster.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Becky Jaster, and son Dustin Jaster both of the home, siblings: Diane Lowe and her husband Clyde of the Lake of the Ozarks, MO., Terry Fossett of Olathe, KS., as well as several extended family and friends.
