John A. Gregory II
John Allen Gregory II, age 76, of Basehor, Kansas, died on November 7, 2018 from complications of diabetes (Agent Orange, Vietnam).
Funeral services will be held on November 12, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, Kansas. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon, and burial at 1:30 pm at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s Clinic, 818 N. 7th St. Leavenworth, KS 66048.
John grew up in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He enlisted in the US Army, serving in the USA, Korea, Vietnam, and Germany; retired after 20 years as a Master Sergeant; and found a second career as driver and manager for school transportation services in both Lansing and Easton.
He loved: reading, history, reenactments; working with Soldiers and children; fishing and bird watching; and most especially, visiting with family and friends.
Inspired by a lifetime of Catholic friends and by Fr. Thorne, a retired Army chaplain, John attended RCIA, was baptized and joined the Catholic church, and became a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus…all in the final two years of his life.
He is survived by his wife Jeri and children John, David, Paula and Don; sister Trish, step-mother Gigi; and four grandchildren: Karis, Rachel, Cole and his wife, Casey, and Ben.
