John W. Dean, Sr.
John Wayne Dean, Sr., age 62, a longtime resident of Edwardsville, Kansas went to his eternal home on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family, after a battle with Mesothelioma. Visitation will be 5-7pm with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7pm, both on Friday, June 10th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
John was born on May 17, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas and was the youngest of two children born to Fred & Teresa Dean. He grew up in the Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kansas area, graduating from Bonner Springs High School in the Class of 1978. When he was younger, John worked in a variety of Construction and Manufacturing jobs, but the bulk of his career was with Steel Manufacturing and Warehouse in Kansas City, MO. John was a founding member of the Bent Knee Cowboy Church in Bonner Springs. John loved to fish, travel and spend time with his family. Recently he had started an annual family fishing trip to Bennett Springs. John had a hard life, yet he put on a great brave face. Even in his final days, he was cracking his usual jokes and making everyone smile. John was an incredible husband of 24 years, an amazing father to three children, and the most wonderful “Papa John” to his grandchildren.
In 2001, John was preceded in death by his son “Johnny” W. Dean, Jr., he was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Dean of the home, two children Zachary Dean and his wife Brenna of Liberty, MO., and Lacey Bolen and her husband Tanner of Overland Park, KS. Two grandchildren Braelyn & Zachary Dean, sister Suzette Seetin of Tonganoxie, KS., as well as several extended family members and many friends.
