Obituary for Joann E. Hartford
Joann Evelyn Hartford, age 89, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Visitation will be 10-11 am with the Funeral beginning at 11 am, both Friday, May 26th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of your choice.
Joann was born on January 27, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the only child born to Marlin & Marguerite (Boston) Bruch. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and then married Allen Ray Hartford on June 18, 1950. Together they made their home in Kansas City, Kansas where they raised their three children and later moved to rural Bonner Springs. Joann and her husband Al owned and operated Al Hartford Construction Company until he passed away in 1987. Joann continued to manage the Hidden Valley Duplexes in Kansas City, KS until turning the business over to her children last year.
Known as Grama Jo to everyone, she dearly loved her family. She was passionate about her faith and was a strong supporter of several area churches over the years. She believed strongly in the power of prayer and exercised her gift of intercession over her family and everyone in her circle of influence. She loved reading books, writing short devotionals, and painting.
Joann was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her three children: Larry Hartford of Bonner Springs, KS, Rick Hartford of Kansas City, KS, Janet Jarred and husband Bob of Edwardsville, KS, 8 Grandchildren, and many Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
