Obituary for Jeffrey Scott Rome

Jeffrey Scott Rome, age 57, Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Tuesday April 12th, 2022. Scott was born July 3rd, 1964 in Kansas City, Kansas and was the older of two sons born to Frank and Cheryl (Crute) Rome. A Celebration of Life will be held May 22nd at 311 W 80th Terrace Kansas City, Mo. 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
Scott grew up in Kansas City, Kansas graduating from Piper High School in 1982. He was active in sports from an early age and excelled at many sports over his career. He still holds the Piper High School High Jump record 42yrs after setting the record in 1980. He worked his entire life in the construction industry; he once stated he had worked on Thousands of homes in the KC Metro over his career.
He was a valued, dedicated and well-loved member of Kansas City Group One AA. Upon his arrival in 2018, he quickly became an integral part of the Group. Scott enjoyed spending time with friends at AA softball as a scorekeeper, participating in cookouts and watch parties for the Chiefs and Royals, not to mention golf, horse racing, and college basketball. He enjoyed eating out with friends, often trying new restaurants. He totally spoiled the Group on a regular basis with fresh baked brownies and cookies. When it came to service work and sharing the AA message, Scott "walked the walk" with humility. This was especially evident in the days, weeks and months following the onset of the pandemic. He was a fixture at the Group, doing whatever was needed to keep it open and safe for meetings. Even as his health issues over the last year limited his ability to attend as many meetings as he would have liked, he remained a consistent, positive influence, with a focus on continuing to help others.

Scott is survived by his son Dakota of Prairie Village, KS; Parents Frank and Cheryl Rome of Basehor, KS; Brother Kevin and wife Shannon of Kansas City, KS; Uncle John Crute and wife Darcy Overland Park, Ks; Uncle Tim Byers and wife Amy of Leawood, KS; Uncle Brett Byers and wife Deena of Shawnee, KS; Uncle Todd Byers and Nancy of Kansas City, KS; Niece Makenzie Stroup (Rome) and husband Travis of Raymore, Mo; Niece Shelby Rome of Kansas City, KS; His close friends Hal, Kurt, Paula, David, Michelle and many other extended family and friends.
