Obituary for Jean Tinsley

Jean Tinsley, age 94, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. Visitation will be from Noon to 1 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 1 pm, both on Monday, February 12th at the Bonner Springs Church of Christ, 419 E Morse Ave, Bonner Springs, KS, 66012. Burial will follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bonner Springs Church of Christ or Tallgrass Christian Camp.

Jean was born on March 29, 1929, on her family's dairy farm near Green Forest, Arkansas. She was the youngest of six children born to Roy & Mildred (Poland) Snyder. Jean grew up near Green Forest and graduated from Green Forest High School in the Class of 1947. She then attended the Springfield Draughon Business College in Springfield, MO. Jean married Thomas Jefferson “Tom” Tinsley, Jr. on Thanksgiving Day, 1952 in Green Forest, AR. She and Tom were both founding members of the Bonner Springs Church of Christ and they both were dedicated to serving their Church and their family. Her family meant the world to Jean, for she loved them all. Jean's exceptional ability to express care and concern for others was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, all five of her siblings and in 2018 by her husband and best friend, Tom Tinsley, Jr.

Survivors include daughter Kay Tinsley of Bonner Springs, son TJ Tinsley and wife Terri of Tonganoxie, KS, three granddaughters: Meghen (Donnie) Jones, Caitlin (Justin) Crossman, Morgan (Brad) Roush, three great-granddaughters: Madilynn, Eleanor and Annalise Jones, two great-grandsons: Ezra and Emmett Roush, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
