Obituary for Janice Diane Calder (Wills)

JANICE D. CALDER
Janice D. Calder, 71, of Lansing, KS formerly of Surprise, AZ passed away on Sat., July 20, 2019 at the St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am, on Sat., Aug. 10, at the Coyote Lakes Recreation Center 18860 N. Coyote Lakes Parkway Surprise, AZ 85378

Janice, A very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a lengthy and courageous battle with a very rare autoimmune disease (NMO).

She was born on March 28, 1948 in Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Verna Wills and grandson Patrick. In addition to her husband Bill, Janice is survived by their children Billy, Renae and Cathy as well as their spouses, multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janice graduated from South Mountain High School where she met the love of her life Bill Calder. They had recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. They have lived most of their lives in Arizona with family but due to military service and personal choice they have also spent time in Hawaii and Florida. One of the determining reasons for moving to Kansas was to share moments with her chosen “sis” which she never had. During her working years, Janice was employed by A.J Bayless, Smith’s, and Fry’s grocery stores in the Phoenix area. She especially enjoyed bragging about and spending time with grandchildren, who in her eyes could nothing wrong. Making new friends was easy for Janice because she always could find kind things to say and was a great listener.

She will be dearly missed and there is major void in our family as well as all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held in Surprise Arizona. More details to follow as soon as possible.

In lieu of flowers, Janice’s family asks that you make donations to your choice of helping cover funeral expenses, The National Organization for Rare Disorders, Saint Jude’s Children Hospital or Shriners Children Hospital.
