James T. Meeker, age 73, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at his home. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, May 31st at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 1pm Saturday, June 1st also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
After 33+ years James retired from General Motors. James truly lived life to the fullest through Simple Pleasures like going to NASCAR races playing Horseshoes and Poker. He threw the best parties and started a family tradition of an annual trip home, to Mammoth Spring Arkansas, to float down the Spring River. James had a love of Elvis and Merle Haggard and passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren. James married Shirley and they formed one badass version of "The Brady Bunch". James was an ordinary guy but to his children and grandchildren he was the world. He gave the best nicknames, he will be missed daily and we are all better for having known him. James was preceded in death by his daddy Theodore Roosevelt Meeker his mommy Ophelia Mae (Lassiter) Meeker, his sister Tommie Hatfield, his brother Bill Meeker, his son-in-law Jeremy "Gump" and his best friend "The Captain". Survivors include his wife Shirley, Sons; Randy, Rick and Rock and daughters Rhonda, Rhenea and his favorite Jamie Kay. 13 grandchildren; Eddie Eugene, Badleg, Knucklehead, Main Man, Jake The Snake, Zeke, Beavis, Crawdad, Sissy, Girlie, Peaches, Roadrunner and Speed bump. 11 Great grandbabies; Lugnut, Peanut, Firecracker, Bebee, Popsicle Honey bun, Princess, Grasshopper, Windy, Lennon, The Rocket, Cade and Kaylee
