James Carl “Jim” Burns, age 73, of Bonner Springs, Kansas and previously of Kansas City, KS., passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at his home.
Jim was born on October 25, 1948 in California and was the oldest of four children born to J.P. and Imogene (Canfield) Burns. He was raised in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School. Jim joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. Upon returning from the service, he began working as a Carpenter with his father and brother-in-law at Burns Construction. Jim’s favorite thing was going to the Lake of the Ozarks, especially since his family came from the Climax Springs area. But really, as long as he was with his family, he was happy. Jim also loved his Motorcycles, Hot Rods and riding Mules.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one nephew JR Newberry.
Survivors include his daughters Amy Burns of the home, Kimberly Burns of Iowa, three siblings: Connie Newberry of Climax Springs, MO., Steve Burns of Basehor, KS., Roger Burns and wife Toni of Grandview, MO., six grandchildren: Austin Minton, Holly Lentz, Kevin “Jack” Minton, Levi Minton, Jessica Cowan and Katie Cowan. As well as five great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
