Obituary for Jack S. Dunham, DVM

Jack S. Dunham, DVM, age 84, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Thursday, June 25th, 2020. Graveside Funeral Service will be 11am Monday, June 29th at the Glenwood Cemetery near Basehor, KS. Memorial Contributions can be made in his name to the Lyme Association of Greater Kansas City, which provided support when he had Lyme Disease and he later served on their Board of Directors.
Jack was born on January 18, 1936, in Edwardsville, Kansas. He was a lifelong area resident attending Bonner Springs High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953 to 1957. When he returned he married Marjorie (Fenton) in 1959, and received his Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1967. Jack began his Veterinary Practice in Paola and Osawatomie and returned to the Kansas City area in 1973 and built the Piper Heritage Veterinary Clinic. In 1981 he and his family went to Kenya to teach Animal Husbandry for a year. Later he served as a Dorm Parent with his wife Marjorie and as Farm Manager at Markoma Christian Academy in Tahlequah, OK. Jack also had made three trips to Vietnam to speak at their Agriculture Universities. He had been a member of the Stony Point Christian Church and more recently attended the Edwardsville Christian Church. Due to his experience with Alzheimer’s, Jack participated in the University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Research Studies and through that he and Marjorie exercised every day at the Bonner Springs YMCA.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie (Fenton ) Dunham of the home., two daughters; Vienna (Dunham) Schmidt and Jacqueline Dunham, two sons; Clint Dunham and his wife Catherine and John Dunham both of Colorado Springs, CO., 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
