Imogene Blankenship
Lois Imogene “Imo” Blankenship, age 91, of rural Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Visitation will be Noon-1pm on Friday, December 2nd at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, followed by a Graveside Funeral Service at 1:30pm at the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Imogene was born on October 17, 1931 in Muscotah, Kansas and was one of four children born to Ervin & Alma (Walters) Berry. She grew up in Atchison, Kansas and graduated from Atchison High School in the Class of 1950. Imogene married William “Bill” Blankenship on Aug. 30, 1952 in Temple, Texas. Together, Bill and Imogene made their home in Kansas City, KS. and later in Bonner Springs, where they raised their two children. Imogene enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their various activities, spending time with her family, Fishing and Camping with her family and traveling to Las Vegas and trips to area Casinos. Imogene was a homemaker, staying home to raise her children and grandchildren while Bill was busy working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, and in 2020 by her husband William “Bill” Blankenship.
Survivors include her two children: son Biff Blankenship, daughter Pamela Phelps and Ken McWhorter of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Four grandchildren: Biff Blankenship, Jr. and wife Toni, Nikki Kirschner and husband Josh, Jarred Harrington and wife JoHannah, and Connor Harrington. Four great-grandchildren: Molly, Will, Lyric and Aisley. Siblings Kenny Berry and wife Raelene of Lenexa, KS., Dolores Moulden of St. Joseph, MO., and Karen Cunningham and husband Dave of Joplin, MO., as well as several other extended family and friends.
