Obituary for Howard Lee German

Howard Lee German, age 64, of the Piper area of Kansas City, KS. and previously of Louisburg, KS. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15th, 2020. Visitation will be 1-3pm with a Memorial Service at 3pm, both Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at the Cornerstone Family Worship (205 E. Hwy. 24-40, Tonganoxie, KS 66086)
Howard was born on April 13th, 1955 in Kansas City, MO and was the oldest of eight children born to Cecil & Clara (Matlock) German. Howard grew up in Louisburg and graduated from Louisburg High School in the Class of 1973. He then followed his father’s footsteps and became a Fireman, working for Johnson County Consolidated Fire District No. 2, where he worked for 33 years retiring as Battalion Chief in 2007. On January 13, 1990 he married Kathy (Scott) and together they made their home in Piper. In his retirement he enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Golfing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Kathy German of the home. Children Heather Bill and husband William of Keller, Texas, Ryan German and wife Jennifer of Louisburg, KS., Tammy Hays and husband Dan of Piper, KS., Ryan Keltner and wife Jennifer of Tonganoxie, KS. His parents Cecil & Clara German of New Braunfels, TX. Siblings: Warren German of Lincoln, MO., Mark German of Kingsland, TX., Teresa German of Dallas, TX., Mary Kierl and husband Tom of Midlothian, VA., Lorna Knack and husband Scott of New Braunfels, TX., Carol German of San Marcos, TX., Andrew German of Dallas, TX., nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as a host of extended family, friends and fire department brothers.
