Obituary for Helen J. Hurd
Helen Jane Hurd, age 72, of Edwardsville, KS., and previously of Bonner Springs, KS. Passed away on October 2nd, 2023. Visitation will be from 10-11am with the Memorial Service starting at 11am both on Friday, Oct. 13th, 2023 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
Helen was born on November 17, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the oldest of two daughters born to Myron & Mary (Rumley) Newsom. She grew up in Bonner Springs and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in the Class of 1968 and then went on to Kansas City Kansas Community College. Helen had worked at Square Shooter Candy and later Standard Motor Products both in Edwardsville, KS. She had also worked part-time at the Bonner Springs Dry Cleaners and Bonner Springs Price Chopper. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Gary Lee Hurd.
Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Russell and her husband Jamie of Bonner Springs, two granddaughters Ashley A. Whitmill and her husband Daryl and Mackenzie J. Russell, and three great-grandsons Jayden, Dominick, and Jaxon Whitmill. One sister Myra Mullins and her husband Keith of Edwardsville, IL. And their children Kyle, Rachel & Miranda Mullins. As well as several extended family members and many, many friends.
