Obituary for Hazel May Lowe (Feldman)

Hazel May Lowe was born on November 24, 1933 at home in Fontana, Kansas and died March 28, 2019 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven children of August and Nellie (Bible) Feldman. She was educated in a one room schoolhouse north of LaCygne for grades 1-8 and graduated from LaCygne High School. At age 18 she moved to the Kansas City area where she had running water for the first time in her life. She got a job at Unity Village working on their teen magazine.

Hazel met her husband John at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Independence, Missouri. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1954. John enlisted in the military and they traveled around the world, living in Florida, Delaware, Okinawa and California. They left the Air Force in 1973 and built a home in Bonner Springs to be near family.

She was a homemaker most of her life and she loved her family. Hazel was a devoted member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church. She was a valued member of the UMW New Hope Key Club and was recently a recipient of the Christ's Angel award for her service to the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to BSUMC.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and her siblings, Franklin Feldman, Marie Giles, Dorothy Beckham, Louis Feldman, Hattie Fitzwater, and Charles Feldman.

Hazel is survived by two sons, David Lowe and his wife, Patricia, and Gary Lowe and his wife, Cynthia, two grandsons, Scott Lowe and Steven Lowe, and two great-granddaughters, Layla and Roxanne.
