Obituary for Harry Blusys

Harry Blusys, age 87, of Basehor, KS passed away comfortably on January 1, 2023 in his home while surrounded by family. Harry was born on August 7, 1935 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. He immigrated to the United States in 1949 and became a US citizen in 1955 from Germany. He grew up on a farm near Albert City, IA. In high school, he enjoyed playing sports and won 75 first place awards for track! He went on to attend Drake University on a track scholarship. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years in Germany, teaching German to the US soldiers and interpreting for his commanding officer. He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Omaha Branch, for 28 years and retired in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Christine Blusys (Barnes); three children David Blusys and his wife Kerry, Christine Fiedler and her husband Philip and Joe Blusys and his wife Megan; four stepchildren Jill Rademacher and her husband Mitch, Jeff Belt and his wife Becky, Cassie Riebold, and Cari Belt and her husband David Davis; two sisters Lina Oberg and Ona Bracko; two sisters-in-law Lisa Barnes, and Jackie Jones and her husband Bill; and one brother-in-law David Barnes and his wife Debbie, as well as nieces, nephews, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His caring heart, infectious smile, and love for life are only a few of the things we will miss. Our hands will be forever reaching out to hold yours, Harry.

A private Celebration of Life is planned for January 21.
