Obituary for Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Mallory

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Mallory, age 68, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his home. Jerry was born on September 23, 1954, in Independence, Missouri, and was one of three children born to Bill & Pat (Sullivan) Mallory. Jerry grew up in Independence and graduated from Van Horn High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Upon returning from the service, he married his High School Sweetheart Debbie (Ray) Mallory on September 4, 1976. In 1981 they made their home in Bonner Springs where they raised their son John and Debbie began teaching at the Bonner Springs High School and Junior High School. Jerry had worked at TWA and the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant before taking a job with the Bonner Springs Public Works where he worked on Road Maintenance and Snow Removal and retired as the Assistant Director of Public Works. In his retirement, Jerry was an avid Military Badge Collector and he and Debbie were huge Seattle Seahawk Fans.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Dennis Mallory. His wife Debbie also preceded him in death on August 19, 2020.

Jerry is survived by his son John Mallory and his wife Christa and their children Olivia and Owen all of Kirkland, Washington and one sister Karen Bushner (Eric) Lee’s Summit, MO. and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Jerry and Debbie cremated remains will both will be interred in the Leavenworth National VA Cemetery at 12:30 pm on Friday, March 10th, 2023.
