Gerald Thomas Burton
April 22, 1933 – January 20, 2021

Gerald (Burt) Thomas Burton, a longtime resident of Bonner Springs, passed surrounded by family on January 20th, 2021. He was 87 years old.

Gerald was the true definition of a Renaissance man. He was an avid gardener (who canned all the vegetables from his garden), a farmer, a welder (by trade), a mechanic, a craftsman, a hunter and a fisherman. He always kept himself busy repairing, creating, building, or fixing things around the house. Gerald was always tinkering, and he was happiest when he found a new project to work on.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Willa; his son and daughter-in-law Gary and Karen Burton of Overland Park, KS.; his son Brett Burton of Leavenworth, KS.; his daughter and son-in-law Kristy and Roger Cox of Kansas City, KS.; his daughter and son-in-law Kelly and David Anderson of Overland Park, KS.; his sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Bob Hamilton of Lake of the Ozarks, MO.; special friend to the family Todd Smith of Leavenworth, KS.; his daughter-in-law Ginger Burton of Centerville, IA.; his four grandchildren; and his four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son David Burton of Centerville, IA. Family gathering and committal in the Leavenworth Veteran's Administration National Cemetery to follow.
