Obituary for George Hiram Harris

George Hiram Harris, age 79, of Bonner Springs, KS., passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019. A visitation will be held 4-5pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 5pm, both Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
George was born on June 14, 1940 at his family’s home in Cane Island, Arkansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Carroll “Crow” & Lorene (Glass) Harris. George grew up near Cane Island and graduated from Lake City High School in the Class of 1959. He married Nadene (Groves) on March 9, 1962 in Lake City. Together they moved to Bonner Springs in 1966 where they made their home and raised their four children. George had worked as a Truck Driver for Mo-Kan Ready Mix/ Rams Ready Mix for over 30 years. Over the years, George enjoyed vacationing with his family at the area Lakes and in Arkansas. He was an avid Stock Car Fan and loved going to Lakeside Speedway every Friday night and later the Nascar Races. George enjoyed tinkering with old cars and was known for being able to fix almost anything! Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
George was preceded in death by his parents and 3 of his siblings; Elnora Beshiers, Bruce Harris and J.C. Harris.
Survivors include his wife Nadene Harris of the home, four children; Jamie (Jonna) Harris, Sheri McKay, Jeff (Robin) Harris all of Bonner Springs, Mark (Sarah) Harris of Lenexa, one brother; Bill (Janie) Harris of Salem, Arkansas, seven grandchildren; Matthew, Jacie, Bailey, Randy, Sam, Cole, Ainsley and a great-grandson on the way.
