Obituary for George David "Dave" DeMato

George David “Dave” DeMato, 60, passed away peacefully during the evening of April 14th 2020 while surrounded by family at home.

David was born to George B. DeMato and Georgia J. DeMato in Kansas City, Missouri on September 23, 1958. He was raised in Edwardsville, KS and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1977; shortly after graduating David joined the United States Marine Corps. While in service, he was injured and honorably discharged in 1980; though unable to continue service, he chose to continue serving the Nation and his “beloved Corps” as a Department of Defense civilian within the Defense Financial and Accounting Office’s at the Marine Corps Finance Center in KCMO for 20 years before retiring.

After retiring from the work force, David spent most of his time dedicated to working around his family’s lake house, where he also enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and playing card games. David had many pastimes which included being a Shriner, participating in car shows, being a leader in 4-H, participating as a Sunday school teacher, and traveling with his wife, Shari. Most of all, David enjoyed spending much of his life with family and friends doing the things he loved and living life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shari Lee DeMato; his three children, Dustin, Amy, and Ryan; grandchildren, Madison, Bristol, Liam; along with a large extended family including his brother, Bobby Williams Stark; sister, Pamela Jane “Craig” Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, George Burns DeMato; mother, Georgia “Georgetta” Jane DeMato; two brothers, George Palmer Stark and Stephan Allen Stark.

Due to the current circumstances we are facing at this time, services for David are being postponed. A celebration of life ceremony will be held, at a later time. Burial services will be at held at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
