Obituary for George Junior Caswell

George Junior Caswell, age 90, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29th, 2023 at his son's home, with his children by his side. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 pm, funeral service at 7 pm, both on Friday, Nov. 3rd at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial service will be at 2 pm, Saturday, Nov. 4th at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa, KS.

Junior was born on June 7, 1933, in San Jacinto County, Texas at his family’s home. He was the next to youngest of nine children born to Benjamin & Georgia (Tipton) Caswell, and grew up near Oakhurst, Texas. Junior was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War. On July 24, 1953 he married Doris Annalee Johnson in Trinity, Texas, and together they raised their children in Kansas City, Kansas. Junior retired after a 36-year career at Certainteed Insulation Plant in Kansas City, KS working with the Teamsters Union. Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, he especially loved teaching his children and grandchildren to carry on the tradition of hunting and fishing. He was always there for his family and taught us to love each other even when we might not like each other. He made sure we all knew that he loved us every day. He was our hero.

He was preceded in death by his parent, all of his siblings, one daughter Sandra Lynn Frakes, adopted son: Mike Gilland, and two grandchildren Christina Frakes and Bobby Stanfield, and his wife Doris Annalee Caswell.

Survivors include his children: Sherry Rose of Atchison, KS, George “Butch” Caswell, Melissa Logan (Brian Burdette) and Steven Caswell all of Kansas City, KS as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
