Frances L. Hammontree
Frances Lucile Hammontree, age 94, a longtime Edwardsville, Kansas resident, went home to be together with her husband and with the Lord, on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 while at her home. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm, Friday, May 19th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, followed by the Graveside Funeral at 2:30 pm at the Maywood Cemetery (11201 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS 66109.) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Maywood Cemetery Fund.

Frances was born at her family’s home on December 13th, 1928 in Paradise, Missouri, and was one of nine children born to Thomas & Viley (Seuell) Wade. She grew up on a farm near Paradise and now Smithville Lake, before moving to Kansas City, Missouri where she graduated from Westport High School in the Class of 1947. Frances did work for some time at Swift & Company Meat Packing Plant in the West Bottoms as a Comptroller. She married Robert N. Hammontree on Nov. 4th, 1961 in Kansas City, MO., and together they made their home in Edwardsville where they raised their four children. Frances had been a member of the Maywood Community Church since 1961 and served many years on the Ladies’ Council at the Church. She and Robert lived in Basehor until he passed away in 2016 and then Frances moved back to Edwardsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven of her siblings, and her husband Robert N. Hammontree.

Survivors include her four children: Terry Hammontree (Jan), Steven Hammontree (Nickie), Leeann Freeze (Cecil), and Dale Hammontree. One sister Ruthie Ceule, 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
