Obituary for Eugene Francis Saving

EUGENE F. SAVING
Eugene F. Saving, 70, of Basehor, KS passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at his home. Visitation and Funeral service will be from 10 to 11 am, and 11 am, on Mon., June 10 at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Basehor, KS. With burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Gene was born on July 3, 1948 in Iola, KS and lived in Humboldt, KS until 1956 when he moved to this area and later graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1966. He then served in the U.S. Army in 545th Ordinance Company in Munster, Germany for several years. On his return he worked as a Iron Worker for 25 years helping to build bridges and buildings all over the Kansas City area. He then worked for Procter and Gamble in Kansas City, KS for 25 years as a Chemical Process Coordinator retiring in 2015. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with his family. He was a longtime member of the Risen Savior Lutheran Church and helped the new church in Basehor. He loved spending time with his grand and great grandchildren and enjoyed making for his family and friends his famous Pecan Brittle commonly known as "Gene's Crack Candy" He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Ann Saving, one brother Don Saving, Jr. and one sister Ann Irene Saving. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Beverly Saving of the home one daughter Christine Reed (Austin) of North Kansas City, MO. Four brothers Peter Saving of Dallas, TX; Robert Saving of Topeka, KS; Fred Saving of Bonner Springs, KS and Philip Saving of Kansas City, KS. Two sisters Diana Woods of Bonner Springs, KS and Nedra Ellsworth of Liberty, MO. Two grandchildren Austin and Lauren. Four great grandchildren Phoenix, Heiko, Vos and Cillian as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other family and friends
