Obituary for Eugene Ogilvie

Eugene Norman Ogilvie, Sr.
Graveside Funeral Services for Eugene (Gene) Norman Ogilvie, Sr., will be Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bonner Springs Cemetery in Bonner Springs, KS. Eugene died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. He was born October 4, 1938 in Kansas City, MO, to Norman James Ogilvie and Freda Strine Ogilvie. He graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, MO in 1958.
On June 1, 1958, he married Densie Marie Langford. They lived most of their life in Bonner Springs, KS, until 2000 when they moved to live with their son, James, in the Basehor area until Eugene’s retirement in 2003. He then moved to the house at Lake of the Ozarks near Edwards, MO, where he lived his remaining years.
Gene worked for the Lone Star Cement Company in Bonner Springs, KS, from 1958 until it’s closing in the 1990s. He also served in the Missouri National Guard for 10 years. Gene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gene loved the Lake of the Ozarks. Many years of summer weekends and vacations with family were spent at their cabin on the lake, near Edwards, MO. He loved driving his pontoon boat especially to pull kids and grandkids tubing or skiing and evening boat rides with the family.
After his wife Densie’s passing in 2003, he married Carolyn Sue Simerly Adwell in 2004.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Densie Ogilvie; brother, Kenneth L. Ogilvie; sister-in-law, Earlene Ogilvie; brother-in-law, Jack Langford; brother-in-law, Roy Prough; and brother-in-law, Ed Sparks.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carolyn Sue Ogilvie, of the home; sons, Eugene N. Ogilvie, Jr. (Kris), Basehor, KS, and James Michael Ogilvie (Paulette), Middletown, VA; sister, Sharon Prough, Raytown, MO; sister-in-law, Lily Mae Sparks and sister-in-law Anna L. Langford; stepsons, Mark Adwell, Scott Adwell; stepdaughter, Rhonwen Munin, Liberty, MO; grandchildren, Scott Ogilvie, Matthew Ogilvie, Makayla Ogilvie, Dakoda McDaniel (Victoria), Mykiah McDaniel, Jeremy Adwell, Lindsay Adwell, Amber Adwell, and Aja Miller; great-grandchildren Aumah McDaniel, Victoria Miller, Vincent Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
