Obituary for Esther Mae Johnson

Esther Mae Johnson, age 93, of Bonner Springs, KS, and previously of Salina, KS passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Visitation will be 6 to 7pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with the funeral service to follow at 7pm, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Esther was born on November 5th, 1930 in Salina, Kansas, and was the youngest of four children born to Walter & Iva (Barnett) Smith. She and her siblings grew up in Salina and Esther graduated from Salina High School in the Class of 1949. She married Donald Johnson on December 22nd, 1950 and together they made their home in Salina where they raised their two sons. Esther had worked as a Rivetor at Beech Aircraft in Salina for nearly 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Salina and enjoyed Crocheting and Knitting.


Esther was preceded in death by her Parents, all three of her siblings: Floyd Smith, Beulah Solis, and Dorothy Pearce. Her husband Donald Johnson, a son Martin Johnson, and her daughter-in-law SanJuana “Sandy” Johnson.

Survivors include her son Mark Johnson of Bonner Springs, six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many dear friends.
