Ernest Stephen “Joe” Mize, age 68, of Smithville, MO., and previously of Edwardsville, KS. passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. A visitation will be 10-11am with a Celebration of his life at 11am on Wednesday, May 26th 2021 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Olathe Hospice House.
Joe was born on November 7th, 1952 in Edwardsville, Kansas. One of four sons born to Jack & Betty (Dalton) Mize. He grew up in Edwardsville and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in the class of 1970. Joe was a longtime member of the Local Laborers Union #1290 and was employed by Clarkson Construction for many years. He loved his family, yard work and just being outside.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Kaelob Mize.
He leaves behind a daughter; Suni Kilgore of Smithville, MO., and a son Joey Mize of Paola, KS., three brothers; David Mize of Wamego, KS., Jack Mize of Basehor, KS., and Mike Mize of Raymore, MO., five grandchildren; Jarred Williams of Springfield, MO., Kaelei Taylor of Republic, MO., Joe Dustyn Mize of Richmond, VA. Four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Harbison and Joey Mize III of Ottawa, KS., Malleri Taylor of Republic, MO. and Archer Mize of Richmond, VA., along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
