Elaine Patricia Long Rundus Stoner
Elaine Patricia Long Stoner, the youngest of eight children, was born June 10, 1929 on a farm
northeast of Clifton, KS to Magdalena Esslinger Long and Nicholas Long. She died on
Monday, December 7, 2020 in Bonner Springs, KS at the age of 91.
She was well educated having been a nurse at Wichita, Belleville and Hiawatha, KS and Boise,
Idaho and Downey, CA. She was also an Oral Surgery Assistant, an Architect, Home Builder,
Real Estate Agent and an Auditor for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Topeka, KS. She also owned
and operated a motel in Hiawatha, KS. In her later years, she was a Legal Assistant for
Northeast Kansas, an advertising Sales Person for the Hiawatha Daily World newspaper and a
Mortuary Receptionist for the Brown County, KS Mortuary.
She was an avid world traveler, having gone around the World in 1979. In 1971 she found
relatives that the family had been out of contact with for 80 years in Stadtbredimus,
Luxembourg. This was the beginning of her love for travel. She visited every state in the United
States and all but a few countries abroad.
In 1949, she was married to Glenn Henry Rundus at Belleville, KS. To this union one son,
Steven Glenn Rundus was born in 1958 at Holton, KS. In 1980, Glenn died of congestive heart
failure and is buried at Clifton, KS. In 1981, Elaine married Harold Eugene Stoner at Horton, KS.
Harold died at the age of 105 in 2014 and is also buried at Clifton, KS.
Elaine was preceded in death by her Mother, Magdalena Esslinger Long and her Father,
Nicholas Long, three sisters, Josephine Kantack, Margaret Finkbiner Newman and Laura
Charest; and four brothers, Martin Long, Joseph Long, Leonard Long and Francis Long.
She is survived by her son Steven Rundus, Daughter-In-Law, JoAnn Uber Rundus, two
Grandchildren: Holly Marie Renfro and Husband David and Daniel Glenn Rundus and Wife,
Sarah; six Great GrandChildren, Jolianna, Isaac, Isabelle and Maddox Renfro and
Noah and Matthew Rundus; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery near Clifton, KS at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the Family has requested donations in memory of Elaine Rundus Stoner to the family to assist with the funeral expense.
