EDNA JENKINS
Edna E. Jenkins, 87, of Shawnee, KS, a loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Friends may call at the Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Friday evening, October 28th, and the Funeral service will be at 10 am, Saturday, October 29th, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Edna started life in Wahoo, Nebraska on Halloween in 1934 to parents Louis and Lois Pilger. She spent her childhood in Nebraska, Missouri and finally Kansas, where she met and married Richard VanTasell. Her life soon became flowers and children. Four children before she was 25. Very involved in her children's lives, later grandchildren and great grandchildren. After her divorce she went to work outside the home, as the Bonner Springs Court Clerk. She was famous for bringing sweet treats and granting the benefit of her life experiences with others. John Jenkins swept Edna off her feet in 74'. Together they enjoyed life to the fullest, taking trips and gambling, hosting many family
gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her parents (Lois Stevenson Pilger & Louis Pilger), her husband (John Jenkins), brother (Russell Pilger) & 2 infant sisters.
Surviving are her children: Sherry (Joe) Moll, Debbie VanTasell, Brenda Davis and Steven (Linda) VanTasell and grandchildren: Amy Pulver, Emily Pulver, Aaron Moll, Laura Moll, Andrew Moll, Phillip Davis and Keith Davis. Great grandchildren: Lydia Pulver, John Davis, Jack Davis, Donna Moll and Sarah Moll. Two living sisters, Jean Savage and Betty Majors.
Edna has left behind memories of laughing, enjoying flowers, birds and coffee! A huge void is left in all our hearts as we say goodbye to a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A life well lived!
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Crossroads Hospice.
