ED TITUS
Edmund Gerald Titus, Sr., age 80, of Basehor, KS went home to be with his Lord peacefully on Monday, Mar. 2, 2020 at his home. Visitation 10 to 11 and Funeral at 11 am, Thur., Mar. 5th, at the Elm Grove Baptist Church near Bonner Springs, KS., with burial to follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice or the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Ed was born on January 7, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lloyd & Barbara (Childers) Titus. He grew up in the Rosedale area of Kansas City, KS. and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1958. Ed went to work at TWA as a Sheet Metal Worker and later worked through the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #2, retiring in 2000. He proudly served in the US Air Force Reserves from 1965 to 1971. In his retirement Ed enjoyed tinkering with his Cushman Scooters, Harley Davidson Motorcycle, El Camino and 1967 Nova. Ed also worked part time job at the Bonner Springs Car Wash and enjoyed visiting with the entire community. He was also active in the local car shows and cruise nights. Other past times included Woodworking, Gardening, Watching KU Basketball and his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Ed was a devoted to his family and was proud to have raised his two children as a single father. That led him to “PWP”, parents without partners group where he met Deannie Freeman. They fell in love and were married on Aug. 29, 1984 and together they made their home in Merriam and later Basehor.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Danny Dickerson.
Survivors include his wife Deannie Titus of the home, two children: Jerry Titus and wife Susie of Basehor, KS., and Lisa Overmyer of Mission, KS., one step-daughter Darlene Jones of Bonner Springs, KS., one brother Pat Dickerson of Kansas City, KS., nine grandchildren: Stevi Smith (Barry), Rachel Moore, Kyle Titus (Bayli), Kayla Titus, Daniel Nicholson (Lindsey), Ricky Nicholson, Anthony Overmyer (Audra), Jackie Hernandez and Jordan Carter. 11 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way, as well as other extended family and friends.
