Obituary for Duskin Jerde

Donald “Duskin” Jerde, age 53, of Bonner Springs and previously of Olathe, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 while at his home with his wife and beloved dog “Duke” by his side. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 18th, 11am-Noon followed by a Celebration of his life at Noon, both at the First Christian Church of Bonner Springs. Burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Duskin was born on December 25, 1967 in Kansas City, Kansas . He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas. Duskin began working as a tow truck driver and later worked at Deffenbaugh Industries in the Environmental Service Field. He also had his own Security Company and later his own Environmental Cleaning Company. Duskin was proud to have been a volunteer Fireman for many years and in 2001 to have received an Overland Park, Kansas - Public Safety Committee’s - Distinguished Service Plaque for his courageous and decisive actions to save a person’s life . He always enjoyed Drag Racing and had his own Top Fuel Funny Car Race Team. Throughout his life Duskin always loved animals and had owned Horses and many Dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father Wesley Jerde, son Nicholas Jerde and maternal grandparents Donald & Betty DeWyke.
Survivors include his wife Laurie Jerde of the home. Two daughters: Dallas Alcanter and husband Nick of Overland Park, KS., Taylor Jerde and husband Trevor Bowley of Fort Benning, GA., his mother Brenda Jerde and her fiancée Bob Robinson, four step-children: Rosalie, Lyndsy, Chris and Cruz, one half-brother Aaron Gray of Key Largo, FL. one grandson: Jason Jerde and two step-grandchildren: Kelsey & Jade, close friends & cousins Lori Borgan, Kelly Cotter, aunt Doris Leach, cousin Pat Gaskins, as well as his church family, extended family, many friends and his “Best Friend - Duke”.
