Obituary for Donna Rae Schneck

Donna R. Carlson Schneck, 87, of Lenexa, KS passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Lakeview Village Rehab. in Lenexa, KS. Donna was born September 17, 1936 in Pilger, Nebraska, the daughter of Maurice and Edna (Schneider) Carlson. Donna graduated from Lawrence High School in 1954 and the University of Kansas in 1980. Donna married the love of her life, Merle Schneck, spending 68 years, six months and 11 days together. Together, they raised four sons Marlon, Stan, Glenn and Monty Schneck. Donna cherished her eight grandchildren Angel, Ian, Karen, Jessica, Quinton, Eli, Savanna and Collie and her great grandchildren Emma, Parker, Malaki, Mezrah, and Kaison. Donna spent her early family years being involved with many youth activities – as a PTA room mother, a Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Explorers leader and the picture lady, and as a swim instructor. Among many other activities, she also helped her husband by working in his insurance office. Her later years were spent growing and designing flowers. She was a member of the Bonner Springs Garden Club, the Kansas City Garden Club, Garden Connect and was a National Garden Club Master Judge. She was also a member of the Kansas and Missouri N.G.C. Judges Council. She gave workshops and judged many Flower Shows, and Fairs in the area. She was the Kansas Association of Garden Clubs State Butterfly Chairman. Donna was a member of the DAR Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter and the Bonner Springs Historical Society, plus she was renowned as the family genealogist. Donna was a member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church and the Bonner Springs YMCA, Donna was proceeded in death by her parents, Morris and Edna Carlson, a son Stan Schneck, her brother Joel Carlson, and in-laws Lucy and Gaylord Schneck. And she is survived by her husband Merle Schneck of the home, brothers Bob, Paul, and Mark Carlson, as well as her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law ‘s and daughter-in-law ‘s and friends, who were so important to her. Donna would like everyone she touched to read John 3:16. Her advice to you is know when you go to bed at night, you have no regrets, because this may be your last moment on earth. In lieu of memorials and flowers tell someone you love them, give someone a hug or some encouraging words, do a random act of kindness, or give to your favorite charity.
