DONNA M. MITTONG
Donna Marie Mittong, 84, of Basehor, KS passed away on Fri., Dec. 6, at her home, surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends at her Memorial visitation from 6 to 8 pm, on Wed., Dec. 11, at the Harrington Family Event Center in Bonner Springs, KS. Family committal to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Cancer Action of Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curt Mittong. Donna was born on September 6, 1935 in Independence, MO. She was the youngest of five children born to Leo and Mildred Davies. She spent her childhood in Independence where she graduated from William Chrisman High School. She was married on September 21, 1954 to Curt Mittong. She spent her first years of marriage in Guam where her husband was stationed while in the Navy. After giving birth to her first daughter in Guam, they returned to Missouri and had three more daughters. She was a stay at home mom while her children were young and then re-entered the work force in retail sales. She was an avid reader of mystery books and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curt Mittong. Her survivors include four daughters - Marci Scherer and her husband Jeff of Basehor, KS, Stacey Mittong of Edwardsville, KS, Linda Suttles of Roeland Park, KS and Monica Dunivent and her husband Greg of Kearney, MO. And five grandchildren Spencer, Grant, Connor, Sydney and Mallory.
