Obituary

Donna Jean Beck, age 88, of the Stony Point area in Kansas City, KS., passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020. Visitation will be 10-11am, followed by a Service Celebrating her life at 11am, both Saturday, Jan. 18th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Interment in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
Donna was born on May 23, 1931 in Rushville, Missouri. She was the oldest of ten children born to Arthur & Hazel (Frazier) Pike. Donna grew up near Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School. She married Wayne J. Beck and together they have lived in the Kansas City area since 1950. Donna had worked at International Paper in Fairfax for several years before starting an In-Home Daycare, that she ran for over 30 years, caring for her grandchildren and several other children over the years. Donna and her husband were members of the Stony Point Christian Church for many years. Donna was very active in the church, being a chairperson for the Drama Program, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Family was her life, and more than anything else she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant daughter Amy, son David Wayne Beck, two grandchildren: Veronica Marie Beck and Joseph Winston Beck, two sisters: Francis Zerr and Edna Higley.
Survivors include three children: Pamela Wright of Overland Park, KS., James Beck and wife Mary J. of Pleasant Hill, MO., Gerald Beck and wife Kimberli of Kansas City, KS., daughter-in-law Mary L. Beck of Basehor, KS. Seven Siblings: Loretta Enzor of Warrensburg, MO., Helen Blalock of Kansas City, MO., Arthur Pike of Arlington, TX., Thomas Pike of St. Joseph, MO., Gary Pike of O’Fallon, MO., Shirley Owsley and Linda Johnson both of Independence, MO. Sister-in-law Marlene Beck of Lincoln, NE. 10 Grandchildren: Amy Gorsuch, Tiffany Mische, Laurie Glenn, Rachel Smith, Stasha Ferguson, Brittany Beck (Yaffe), David Beck, Tyler Beck, Nathan Beck, Lindsey Beck. 14 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends.
