Obituary for Donald Lee Hiatt

Donald Lee Hiatt, age 63, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on March 13, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be 6-7pm, followed by the Celebration of his life at 7pm, both Thursday March 18th at the Antioch Church (5201 Antioch Rd
Overland Park, KS 66202). Burial will be 11am Friday, March 19th at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hope Builders or his family asks you to reach out and help someone you see is in need, and do it in memory of Don.

Don was born on April 13, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas and was one of five children born to Harry & Lotus (Levene) Hiatt. Don spent his early childhood in Kansas City, Kansas and at age 13 his family moved to a farm near Basehor and Don graduated from Basehor High School in the Class of 1975. Don and his brothers were involved in the Basehor Trail Riders Club and Basehor 4-H where Don was proud to have had a Grand Reserve Champion Hereford Steer. Over his life Don loved working on Cars and was known for being able to fix just about anything. He was also a Cabinet Builder, an amazing Carpenter fixing up and remodeling many homes. Don had owned the Legends Auto Ranch at Victory Junction for several years. He loved helping people and sharing the word of the Lord. He also had an ornery side to him and loved to tell jokes.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lotus Hiatt and an infant sister Carolyn Lee Hiatt.
Survivors include his four children: Amy Hinson of Tonganoxie, KS., Sarah Updike, Donald Lee Hiatt, II and Angel Hiatt all of Kansas City, KS. His father Harry Hiatt of Tonganoxie, KS., three siblings: David Hiatt and wife Darlene of Kansas City, KS., Daniel Hiatt and wife Sherry of Tonganoxie, KS., and Dennis Hiatt and wife Nena of Bates City, MO., 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many, many friends.
