Diane Marie Handy, 73, of Kansas City, KS passed away on Fri., August 10, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospice House. Visitation 10 to 11 am, and Memorial Service at 11 am, on Sat., Aug. 18, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Cremains burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Luke's Hospice House. Diane was born on June 10, 1945 in Red Wing, Minnesota. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. Diane was a remarkable Cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her career started as a nanny which she dedicated years of service to. Her next career choice was a cook at Golden Living Community Center in Edwardsville, KS for 30 years. When Diane was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer at the age of 70 years old and that is when she decided to retire. Although she had major surgery and chemotherapy. She remained very active and dedicated to fighting her illness. Throughout her illness she was a brave iron-willed woman. After she retired she became a Facebook expert. She was very dedicated on keeping updated on her children and grandchildren, just like a loving mother would be. She loved to watch the royals and chiefs play. She was such a sports fan. She became the family traffic and weather reporter. We could always count on her to give us the local news. She was preceded in death by parents Herman and Hazel Ferber and her husband Roger Handy. And she is survived by two sons Robert Wilson and Rick Wilson. Two daughters Sherri Bowman and Marsha Keylon. Eight grandchildren Samantha Honeycutt, Sarah Stevenson, Jessie Baker, Justin Gelushia, Ricky Swallow, Connor Stevenson, Ashley Ruiz and Calvin Stevenson IV and two great grandchildren.
