Obituary for Denise Ann Self (White)
Denise Ann Self, age 65, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020 while surrounded by her loving family at her home. Visitation will be 5-6pm followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm both Monday, Nov. 2nd, at the Elm Grove Baptist Church, 15774 Linwood Rd, Bonner Springs, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Denise’s name to Encompass Health – Hospice, 14833 W. 95th St. Lenexa, KS. 66215.
Denise was born on March 31, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri and was one of four children born to Bill & Betty (Askins) White. She grew up and attended schools including Van Horn High School in Independence, Missouri. Denise had worked the last 15 years at the Bonner Springs Wal-Mart, retiring one month ago. Denise loved to travel, especially with her lifelong best friend Shelly Beilman to Las Vegas, NV. In recent years, Denise loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, one sister Sharon Taylor, one brother Thomas William White, II “Tommy”, and her best friend Shelly Beilman. Survivors include her two children: Brandon Reed and his wife Kara of Bonner Springs, KS., and Jacquee Penner and her husband Jeff of Tonganoxie, KS. Her mother Betty White, and one sister Christy Cartwright, both of Raytown, MO. Nine grandchildren: Alli, Austin, Justin, Cora, Mika, Avery, Rylie, Ady and Aaron.
