Obituary for David L. Williams

David Lee Williams, age 67, of Bonner Springs, Kansas and previously of the Turner area in Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021. Visitation will be 10-11am, followed by the Celebration of His Life at 11am, both Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 at the Alden-Harrington funeral Home with burial to follow in the Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Shawnee, KS. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
David was born on January 31, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the only son and oldest of three children born to Joe & Bernice (Schrader) Williams. David grew up in the Turner area and graduated from Turner High School in the Class of 1972. After high school he helped his Dad in his Carpentry and Cabinet Business before taking a job as a Painter for the Shawnee Mission School District. Over the years, David was an avid collector of Antiques, Art Deco, model kits, Alien and Predator, Charlie Chan, Universal Studio monsters, and Kansas City beer memorabilia. Part of his collection was in Hometown Brew.
He even started his own Facebook group, “Western Missouri Beer, Whiskey Relics and History”. David also enjoyed books, concerts, car shows, flea markets, antique shows, going to the Movies and seeing the latest movies as soon as they came out and enjoying a big box of Popcorn. He also loved to hunt and collect Snakes and other Reptiles.
He was preceded in death by his Father Joe Williams.
Survivors include, his three children: Aaron Williams and wife Rachel of Blue Springs, MO., Amber Foley and husband Kyle of Kansas City, KS., and Ashley Williams of Lenexa, KS., one grandson Cole Kielman, partner Brenda Cushing of Kansas City North, mother Bernice Williams of Overland Park, KS., two sisters Patty Middleton of Shawnee, KS., and Darlene Williams of Kansas City, KS. as well as several longtime friends.
