David was born on April 24, 1957, in Kansas City, KS, the youngest of four children born to Bud and Maxine Wheeler. He grew up in Kansas City, KS graduating from Turner High School in the class of 1975. In high school, he met the love of his life, Shelia Pierce, they were married on February 8, 1975, and together they raised their family in Basehor, KS. Dave worked for John Rohrer Contracting as a union laborer for many years. He later attended JCCC for HVAC and worked in maintenance until he retired in 2019. Dave always enjoyed spending time with his family. In his younger years, he loved going to the lake with family and friends. The best memories of Dave at the lake were of him entertaining and cooking enormous meals for his three kids and all their friends. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and all his kids and grandkids' sporting events, especially Bobcat Football.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, stepdad Don, sister Judy and mother-in-law Lavona “PeeWee”.

He is survived by his wife Shelia and their children: Amanda (Mark) Sisemore, Jacob Wheeler, Sally (Tyler) Carmitchel. Grandchildren: Megan (Hunter), Madison (Matthew), Mikayla, Betsey (Chandler), Zack, Jenna, Ava, Trevor, Ella, and Audrey. Brother Charles, Sister Bonnie, and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was a man of few words with the wittiest dry sense of humor. He was the kindest most generous man with the biggest heart. He had a love for animals especially his sweet dogs Peaches and Bunny.
We feel so fortunate for the time we had with him, and he will be so deeply missed by all.
