Obituary for David Harley Hendrickson

David Harley Hendrickson, 73, of Leavenworth, KS passed away on December 31, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. Visitation at 1pm and Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 PM, on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Lenexa City Center Church at 17500 W. 87th St., Parkway Lenexa, KS 66219. David was born August 14, 1948 in Edgerton, KS. He was the first of seven children born to Donald and Marie Hendrickson. He was raised on a farm and attended Wolcott Baptist Church with his family in Piper, KS. In school he ran track and played basketball at Piper High School where he graduated in 1966. He married Barbara Nutt in 1966 and they had three children Kim, David "Van" and Chris. David took his boys hunting and fishing often. Over the years he had numerous occupations beginning with working for the Kansas Department of Soil Conservation, Meyers Dairy, MoKan Courier he also owned and operated his own courier business and later worked with his sons and grandsons at Encore. In 1995 he was married to Ruth Ann (Garlow) Anderson at Lenexa Christian Center where they met and attended throughout their 26 plus years of marriage until his passing on New Year’s Eve 2021, with his sons at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marie Hendrickson and one brother Michael Hendrickson. He is survived by his wife of 26 plus years Ruth Hendrickson; his brothers Leroy, Dennis and Gary; and two sisters Carol Pence and Cindi Porterfield; his daughter Kim and her husband John Alexander; his sons David "Van" Henderickson and Chris Hendrickson and seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and seven stepchildren, 24 step grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren.
