James David Erickson, age 47, of Bonner Springs, KS stepped into eternity with his glorious Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2020. He exited this earth surrounded by the people he cherished the most, in the home where he loved to welcome his family, friends, and community to gather.
Services for David will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Lenexa Baptist Church located at 15320 W. 87th St. Pkwy, Lenexa, KS. 66219. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to noon, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:30pm. Burial will follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family strongly suggests memorial contributions be made to Fellowship West for programs David loved being a part of and supported in every way he could.
David was born on April 7th, 1972 in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up in Columbia, MO and as a teen moved to Edwardsville, KS and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1990. David became a Registered Nurse and later continued his education at the University of Kansas where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia. David spent his career caring for others in need at hospitals around the KC area, and most recently worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Providence Medical Center as a CRNA.
On June 7, 1997 David married the love of his life Angie (Logsdon), and together they were blessed to raise three wonderful children. This past fall they were very excited to learn their family would continue to grow with the announcement of their first grandchild that will arrive later this year. Their marriage began at Bonner Springs Baptist Church which became Fellowship West a little over five years ago thanks to the influence of David and the heart he had for this community to maintain a place of worship. This love he had for his church and community has been imprinted on his family. They are all very active in serving, particularly in the student ministry, a ministry he credits turning his life around and shaping his faith. David’s greatest gift from God is that he was a compassionate caregiver to his patients, family, and friends; always helping with their physical needs but deeply passionate about praying for spiritual needs as well. He will be remembered for the many ways he enjoyed life such as, taking in the majesty of a sunset, vacationing with his family at the beach, jumping on a skateboard and zipping around town with a bunch a teenagers, hiking across a beautiful trail, or simply striking up conversations at a local coffee shop, David found joy in all things. He had a habit of saying every verse was his favorite, but a passage he shared often to encourage others was Philippians 4:4-8 and as his family grieves, they cling to these verses as well.
David was preceded in death by his father Jim Erickson in 2018 and his father-in-law, Floyd Logsdon in 2019. Survivors include his wife Angie Erickson of the home, three children: Noah Erickson and wife Rachel of Bonner Springs, Abbey and Luke Erickson both of the home. Mother Doris Park and husband Wade of Jefferson City, MO., Stepmother Reba Erickson of Bonner Springs, KS., Mother-in-law Betty Logsdon of Bonner Springs, maternal grandmother Julie Park of Jefferson City, MO., five siblings: Angela McPike of Columbia, MO., Rebecca Stevenson and husband Jarod of Bonner Springs, KS., Tim Erickson and wife Carmen of Montezuma, KS., Logan Park and wife Robbie of Kansas City, MO., Hunter Park of Jefferson City, MO., as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and many, many friends.
