Obituary for Daniel Joseph Belobrajdic

Daniel Joseph Belobrajdic of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on May 4th, 2023, at the age of 76.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Tonganoxie Christian Church from 2-5pm on Sunday, May 21st.

Dan was born on August 25th, 1947, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, KS, to Joe and Margaret (Robbins) Belobrajdic. Dan grew up in Bonner Springs with his sister, Barbara (Belobrajdic) Mitts and attended school in Bonner Springs graduating from high school in the Class of 1965. After high school, Dan attended Kansas University for one semester before enlisting in the Army. It wasn’t long after enlisting that Dan was stationed in Vietnam where he fought in the Vietnam War and sustained life-threatening injuries. After recovering, he was medically discharged with honors including the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

Upon arriving back home Dan was united in marriage to Marilyn (Ritschel) Belobrajdic on September 19, 1969. It wasn’t too long after they were married that they bought a farm in Leavenworth County with his dad and mom and settled down there to raise their family. Dan worked for J&L Sheet Metal Monday through Friday and on the farm in the evenings and weekends with his dad. The kids were always close behind wanting to help feed the cows or drive the tractor. There were many trips to the sale barn and auctions with Dan, Joe, and one or more of the kids. Everyone squeezed into the old single-cab Chevy pickup and off they went. He was a devoted husband and hard working father. He passed on to his children the importance of working hard and providing for your family. Dan and Marilyn shared a love for horses and all things country. He and Marilyn shared 29 years of marriage before she passed away in 1998.

Later Dan met and married Brooke (Lilley) Belobrajdic in April of 2006, at Lake of the Forest in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Lake of the Forest is also where they also made their home. Dan finally retired from J&L and spent his time at the lake, always willing to help with maintenance projects. He and Brooke enjoyed gardening and always had more than enough to share with family and friends. He also started woodcarving in the last few years.
He and Brooke were married 17 years.

Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Belobrajdic, in 1998, his daughter, Hillary Belobrajdic in 1999, his mother, Margaret Belobrajdic, in 1999, and his father, Joseph Belobrajdic, in 2013.
