Cortney L. Turner

Cortney Lyn Turner, age 36, of McLouth, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Her family is planning a celebration of her life starting at 3pm on Sunday, August 28th, at the Deer Ridge Estate, 21107 Donahoo Rd., Tonganoxie, Ks. 66086

Cortney Lyn Channell was born on September 30th, 1985 in Merriam, Kansas and was the oldest of two children born to Bill & Lyn (McLaughlin) Channell. Cortney grew up in the Piper area of Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Piper High School in the Class of 2004. She was able to go to two separate colleges on Softball Scholarships. First was Cowley County Community College where Cortney helped her team to win the Eastern Division Championships, Highest National Ranking-2nd 2005-2006, National Tournament Appearances. In 2005, Cortney was selected to First Team all Region 6. She went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, magna cum laude, from Northwest Missouri State University. After College Cortney worked at "Between The Lines" as a mentor for the up and coming softball athletes. She then became the assistant coach for MCC-Maple Woods/Metropolitan Community College. She briefly was employed at AMG Services before starting her career as an Engineer for Byers Engineering which allowed her to work from home. Cortney continued to play recreational softball on Co-Ed leagues and tournaments after college. Which is where she met her husband Glen Turner. They were married in 2016 and together made their home near McLouth. When the time came to move on from softball Cortney's next adventure was Camping & Rzr (side by side) Riding with her family and friends. Cortney was very creative. In her spare time, she loved to draw and paint. She created several works of art that are displayed throughout the home today.

She was preceded in death by her father William “Bill” Channell in 2013.

Survivors include her husband Glen D. Turner, Jr. of the home, daughters: Addison Hispher of Piper, KS., Raelyn Turner of the home, Step-daughters: Carli and Sydney Turner of Bonner Springs and Brooklynn Turner of the home. Brother William Tyler Channell and wife Kayla of Piper, KS., mother and step-father Lyn & Doug Peterson of Osawatomie, Kansas, mother-in-law Janet Turner of the home as well as several extended family and friends.
