Obituary for Cody McDonald

George Michael “Cody” McDonald, age 33, passed away on September 13th, 2020 surrounded by his closest family members at KU Medical Center. Cody is survived by his parents, Ruth Ann Trischler and Michael J. Trischler, his sister, Maggie McDonald-Trischler, and his brother, Nick Trischler. He is also survived by his grandparents, Roger “Old Goat” Holter, Richard and Virginia Trischler, as well as nephews, Mark, Joel, and Holt, niece, Annie, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael McDonald, maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Holter, and paternal grandparents, George and Codyne McDonald. Cody was born on September 2nd, 1987 at Providence Medical Center to Ruth Ann Holter and Michael McDonald. He graduated from Basehor Linwood High School in 2006. He first worked at Walmart as a cart pusher then joined an electrical apprenticeship with Faith Technologies. He then worked with IBEW Union Local 24 for several years. Cody was one of the kindest people you would have ever met and had the biggest heart ever. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and would literally give the shirt off his back. He enjoyed building and tinkering with things. He was amazing with his way of approaching a problem and coming up with a solution. He was incredibly talented with wood and metal crafts. He had been fixing old lawn mowers and other lawn equipment, doing his part to help the earth. He was a skilled woodworker and electrician. He was a very hands-on uncle and adored his nephews and niece. He loved the outdoors and fishing, and one of his greatest joys was to out fish his grandfather.
A celebration of Cody’s life will be held Sunday September 20th, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm, at Edwardsville City Park 1200 Blake Street, Edwardsville, KS 66111. Please dress casually. In lieu of flowers, it is requested to make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and or the National Stroke Association in the name of Cody McDonald. Forever Cody Strong!!
