Charley James Allen, 100, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at his home. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Leavenworth Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. Charley was born May 1, 1922 in Ada, OK where he grew up. Later he served in the United States Army in the Philippines, upon his return home, he worked numerous jobs including installing power poles, building three homes, and working on cars with his dad, during the depression. For most of his working career, he worked as a painter for General Motors at the Fairfax Assembly Pant in Kansas City, KS. Charlie was a member of Rehm’s Park Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS. Charley was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Loretta “Rita” Allen in 2007 and one granddaughter Angela Holland in 1996. And he is survived by four children. Kathy Hunt and her husband Clodis of Bonner Springs, KS; Charlene Neaderhiser of Eudora, KS; Saundra Holland and her husband Joel of Bonner Springs, KS and Marcus Allen and his wife Teresa of Lawrence, KS. One sister Mattie Bauer of Collinsville, OK and two brothers Claude Allen of Haysville, KS and Robert Allen of Neosho, MO. Seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Feed his Lambs in care of the funeral home.
